    Every day

    Wash it by hand with warm, soapy water and let it dry standing on its edge.

    Now and then

    When the wood starts to look thirsty, rub in a little board oil.

    If it ever gets damaged

    A light sand and a fresh coat of oil, and it's good as new. An inch and a half of end grain leaves plenty of board to work with.

Which size should I choose?

Large is 17″ × 13″, plenty for everyday chopping and a loaf of bread. Extra Large is 24″ × 18″, room for a roast or a whole spread. Both are an inch and a half thick. If you're leaning toward Extra Large, measure your counter and the space by your sink first.

Maple ray or all walnut?

The maple ray is fine lines of hard maple set by hand into the walnut. All walnut leaves it out for one deep, quiet surface.

Solid or juice groove?

Solid gives you one clean, flat surface, edge to edge. The juice groove is routed around the top to catch the runoff from a roast or a ripe tomato.

How do I care for end grain?

Wash it by hand with warm, soapy water and let it dry standing on its edge. When it starts to look thirsty, rub in a little food-safe board oil. Never the dishwasher, and never leave it soaking.

Does it arrive ready to use?

Oiled, finished, and ready to use. Unbox it and start cooking, nothing to set up.

Does it come with feet?

Yes. Every board ships with four feet fitted to the underside. They keep it steady while you cut and lift it off a wet counter.
